Join Us

Plains Speaking People brings the tradition of storytelling to the stage spotlight. This night of stories told - with a South Dakota connection - will be as inspiring as it will be entertaining.

Through sharing our worlds and words, Plains Speaking People will create a night where the performers and audience can celebrate our history, ignite our imagination, and strengthen our community spirit.

The Flandreau performance is a fundraiser for Derek Gerlach. The event is free with a suggested donation of $10 per person.

Tell Your Story

Plains Speaking People will feature 8 individuals who will share their best 10 minute story that has a connection to South Dakota and/or it people. These storytellers will be chosen based on their 2 minute pitch submission that can posted on this website. The stories will all be listened by theatre, storytelling and communication professionals who will be making the final roster selection.

Plains Speaking People: Dakota Stories for the Stage will showcase 8 storytellers at the Flandreau Crystal Theater on Friday, January 25th, 2019 at 7:30 pm.
